Thomas Howes 1720 - 1774
Thomas, was both a labourer and Bristol burgess; Thomas was born around 1720, he is the start of our family tree along with Elizabeth Adams. He received his freedom by virtue of her father, James, a Bristol merchant tailor. Thomas's four daughters made good use of this status on his death, around 1774, with their husbands, three labourers and a blacksmith, all becoming burgesses that year, alongside Thomas' only son Robert.
Elizabeth married George Buxton born 1750.
Priscilla married John Mills.
Hester was born in 1747 in Mangotsfield. She married Pharoah Golding on 14th September 1767 and they had a daughter, Hannah in 1779. Hester was not baptised until she was 32. 24th January 1779.
Mary was born in 1748. She married Edward Francombe on 30th June 1769. Edward died in 1816.
